Mechanical characterization and environmental assessment of stabilized earth blocks

Abstract Soil is a local material which allows populations in warm regions to better cope with severe environmental conditions. The materials’ performance depends on the chemical and physical nature of soil. greatest problem these materials remains their high sensitivity shrinkage, vulnerability terms cracking due drying. These pathologies may lead radical decrease mechanical performance. Several works have indicated that consideration plant fibers, as reinforcement earth materials, made it possible avoid cracking, and, thus, ensure stability structures. results are not generalizable depend involved materials. This work aims investigate different scenarios for stabilization blocks. In this context, use cement two types natural fibers Lebanese blocks has been studied. properties stabilized shown developed mix provides suitable compared traditional masonry block. impacts using SimaPro software. study show gaining place sustainable, affordable building low-cost construction.
